Masala Pav- Mumbai Style

Masala Pav is a very popular street food in Mumbai and is very tasty and spicy. It is a very good way of using leftover pav. Also, it is very quick and easy to make. My friends usually came to my home and I wanted to make something that can be served with tea, so for me it tea-time snack and I love it. It is a massaledar dish and will defiantly be a hit for weekend menu:D

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Green Pepper finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves
  • 2 tsp Pav Bhaji Masala
  • 1 tsp lal mirch powder
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  1. Melt 1 tbsp butter in skillet, to that add chopped onion.
  2. Saute onions until they become soft and pink.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for another 1 minute.
  4. Add Pav Bhaji Masala with 1 tbsp of water and cook for 2 minutes
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder, mix well and cook until tomatoes become soft and mushy.
  6. Add Green pepper, mix well, add some water  and cook until green pepper is tender.(it should be bit crunchy)
  7. Add lime juice and let it cool down for some time.
  8. Now butter the bread from the outer side, spread prepared bhaji masala on other side of bread.
  9. Roast the side first on which butter is applied . While roasting keep pressing down the masala on bread so as all the juices from masala will get soaked in pav.
  10. Now again apply 1/2 tsp of butter on masala, spread it and flip the bread and roast it from other side as well.
  11. Serve hot with tamarind chutney or mint chutney
